World Record Attempt Gains Huge Audience for Internet Broadcast
Over 8,100 Viewers Watched Tim McVey's Historical Game
Over 25 years after gaining national attention for his marathon run, Tim McVey has once again captured the attention of the world.

On Friday morning, April 10, at 8:33am Central Time McVey sat down to make another run at video game history, and the world joined in via a live web broadcast to watch Tim's attempt to regain the World Record on the classic-era game Nibbler.

Tim originally gained headlines around the world in January 1984 for being the first-ever gamer to score 1 billion points on a video game, also gaining the record on Nibbler in the process, a mark that stood for over a quarter century before Dwayne Richard of Alberta, Canada scored 1,004,328,140 points on February 22 of this year to become the World Record Holder.

McVey's attempt at regaining the record was being recorded for official submission to Twin Galaxies as well as a live internet broadcast set up by Tim himself.  The record attempt ran for over 39 hours before coming to a close at 11:36pm Central Time on Saturday night, April 11, when fatigue and frustration set in and McVey was no longer able to continue. (Editor's Note:  It was also found after the fact that the joystick was no longer functioning properly as well due to the extreme stress of the marathon).

By the end of the game, 8,101 unique viewers from around the world had joined in to watch the record attempt, with more than 300 watching at the very end of the run, making this the largest audience ever for a live internet broadcast of a World Record event for a video game.

McVey's game ended at 945,939,420, his second-best score ever.  He has not yet ruled out making another run at reclaiming the record at some point in the future.

(If you are interested in setting up a webcam to air a World Record attempt to be aired live to the world, contact Twin Galaxies Editor-In-Chief Scott Patterson via the Twin Galaxies staff page for consideration.  Regardless of it you want to make a run at the Nibbler billion, or want to set new standards on modern hits such as Street Fighter IV or Guitar Hero Metallica, you might be the next gamer watched by thousands across the world!)
